Behind the Brand
crafting . creating . honoring

I’m Sofia Arana-Miranda, a Certified Clinical Herbalist, artist, ceremonialist, and founder of Teyolía. This is a creation born from decades of devotion to the sacred bond between plants, people, and spirit. Though Teyolía is a newer offering, it carries the weight and wisdom of a life shaped by ceremony, connection, ritual, and ancestral remembering.

My journey began at four years old, when I attended my first Sundance. That early experience of sacred gathering lit a lifelong fire in me – an embodied sense of homecoming to Earth, Spirit, and community. As I grew older, this path widened into studies and initiations with curanderas, ayahuasqueros, wachumeros, and ceremonialists throughout the U.S., Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Europe, and beyond. I learned not just through textbooks or formal programs, but through sitting at altars, making offerings, apprenticing in kitchens and gardens, and listening to the plants, the prayers, and the people who carry them.
I also returned to the traditions of my Mexican lineage, studying curanderismo with family and community elders. These teachings tethered me to something ancient yet alive—reminding me that healing is not simply personal, but collective and cultural.
Eventually, I sought training as a clinical herbalist in the Western tradition to further bridge ancestral plant wisdom into dialogue with modern herbal frameworks. This synthesis became the foundation of Teyolía, a project rooted in ritual, healing, and the sacred intelligence of the Earth.

Teyolía means “the animating force of the heart” in Nahuatl. It’s more than a brand, it’s a living prayer. Through potent herbal cacao blends, this is an offering of presence, grounding, emotional clarity, and spiritual nourishment. Every cup is an invitation to attune the rhythms and sacredness of everyday life on this wildly magical Earth.
With gratitude,
Sofia
